The Minister for Health, Dr. James Reilly, TD officially opened the new Emergency Department at Letterkenny General Hospital in Co. Donegal on Friday 22 March 2013.
The new ED offers a modern patient focused environment for patients who require emergency care and replaces a very cramped facility which was not fit for purpose.
The ED has an expanded Resuscitation Room; additional majors’ cubicles; a minor injuries area; a separate children’s area and an area for those with acute mental health problems. The new department provides a safer, modern environment for staff and a more comfortable welcoming environment for patients and their families.
