Continuous Professional Development Support Scheme (CPD-SS)
Introduction
The Continuous Professional Development Support Scheme (CPD-SS) in Emergency Medicine is an educational programme commissioned and funded by the Health Service Executive (HSE) to facilitate NCHDs within the public health service who are not on training schemes to maintain their professional competence in line with Medical Council requirements. The CPD-SS in EM is delivered by ICEMT in collaboration with RCSI. The CPD-SS provides a structured means of achieving 20 external Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits.
Professional Development Programme Content
The CPD-SS consists of a series of educational workshops covering a variety of EM topics. Current Emergency Medicine courses delivered by the CPD-SS include:
- Pre-Hospital Emergency Care certificate
- Minor Trauma day
- Geriatric Emergency Medicine
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Mental Health Emergencies
- Medical Emergencies (online course)
- RCSI Emergency Point of Care Ultrasound certificate
Modules in Human Factors and Patient Safety programme delivered by RCSI are also available to CPD-SS registrants.
