MMUH ED Opening

The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital’s new Emergency Department opened for patients on Sunday 17th February 2013.

The new ED boasts cutting-edge facilities and state-of-the-art medical devices for its patients.

Features of the new ED include new CT scan and x-ray rooms at the heart of the ED; new laboratory facilities; a theatre for minor procedures; 15 new single-patient examination cubicles for people with complex and urgent medical complaints and a 60% increase in capacity for resuscitating patients.

“We’ve been looking forward to this moment for decades,” said Consultant in Emergency Medicine Dr. John McInerney. ”The resuscitation areas are three times bigger. All the extra space and facilities will mean people are no longer all cramped together.”
