Emergency departments across the country are well used to dealing with victims of violence and excessive drinking but according to Dr Chris Luke, an emergency medicine consultant, there has been a marked increase in the level of violence on our streets and in his words “it seems almost a daily occurrence now that somebody is stabbed or viciously attacked”.
