- ACEMT develops a proposal for a National Basic Specialty Training Scheme to ensure that those entering Higher Specialist Training in Emergency Medicine have as nearly a uniform training experience as possible. The BSTEM will be recruited for in early 2011 and the scheme will begin in July 2011.
- IAEM & ACEMT develop a strategy document to guide the future development of Paediatric Emergency Medicine entitled “The Development of Paediatric Emergency Medicine in Ireland“. All posts as Consultants in Paediatric Emergency Medicine from the early course onwards will require candidates to follow the agreed PEM Training Programme developed by ACEMT and agreed between ACEMT, HSE METR and the Faculty of Paediatrics.

- The national Emergency Medicine Programme is set up by the HSE Directorate of Quality & Clinical Care and IAEM through ACEMT & INB CEM. Dr Una Geary is its National Clinical Lead.
- The Irish Emergency Medicine Trainees Association (IEMTA) and IAEM agree in principle to merge their functions under the IAEM umbrella. IAEM holds its 21st Annual General Meeting and meets in Waterford for the first time.

2011
- Recruitment takes place for the first time to the first national Basic Specialist Training Scheme posts in Emergency Medicine (BSTEM) bringing Emergency Medicine into line with other medical specialties. The 3 year scheme commenced on 11th July 2011 with Mr Robert Eager, Consultant in EM, Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore as Programme Director.
- The Advisory Committee on Emergency Medicine Training (ACEMT) is renamed the Irish Committee for Emergency Medicine Training (ICEMT) in May 2011 in recognition of its significantly widening remit.
- IAEM becomes an incorporated limited company on 3rd June 2011 (Company Registration number 499633) and a Charity on 6th September 2011.
- At the AGM, the IEMTA merger into IAEM is formally approved, a new Constitution endorsed and a decision made to transfer the functions of IAEM (the Association) into IAEM Limited (the Charity).
- Mr Mark Doyle becomes the 6th President of the Association.
- IAEM inaugurates an eponymous lecture named after the first Consultant in the specialty in Ireland. The first Leo Vella lecturer is Mr Vella himself and the lecture delivered at the Association’s Annual Scientific Meeting in Limerick on 21st October 2011.

2012
- IEMTA is merged into IAEM and the expanded Association opens membership to Medical Students
- IAEM transfers its functions into IAEM Limited in March 2012
- The first Emergency Medicine grant application to the Health Research Board is approved. The project Feasability Analysis of Key Performance Indicators for Emergency Departments in Ireland (Principal Investigator, Dr Abel Wakai) is accepted for funding under its HRB Health Research Awards 2012 Programme.
- The Report of the National Emergency Medicine Programme is published and launched by the Minister for Health, Dr James Reilly TD on 19th June 2012

- IAEM hosts the 14th International Conference on Emergency Medicine at the Convention Centre, Dublin from 27th to 30th June 2012. It is officially opened by the President of Ireland, Mr. Michael D Higgins and proves to be the most successful ICEM.
- The Emergency Medicine Student Society, Ireland (EMSSI) is formed and holds its first national meeting at Trinity College, Dublin on 24th September 2012. All the Medical Schools on the island are represented in this body.
- IAEM holds its 2012 ASM in Maynooth. Mr AJ (Tony) Martin is the second Leo Vella Lecturer
2013
- The new Letterkenny ED is extensively flooded and rendered unusable forcing its prolonged closure and use of modular accommodation
- IAEM produces its first Clinical Guidelines for use in Emergency Departments nationwide as part of a larger suite of Clinical Guidelines. National Guidelines on the management of patients exposed to blood and bodily fluid are published by an expert group on which IAEM was represented.
- IAEM endorses the IFEM Framework for Quality and Safety in Emergency Departments
- The IAEM Annual Scientific Meeting takes place in Letterkenny, visiting Co. Donegal for the first time. Mr Fergal Hickey is the third Leo Vella lecturer.

2014
- The death takes place of Mr Leo Vella on 14th June, the first Consultant in the specialty and the founding President of the Association
- IAEM Limited becomes eligible to receive donations as a recognised charity
- IAEM Annual Scientific Meeting is held in Dun Laoghaire and for the first time has tracks for ED nurses, Paramedics and Medical Students. It is opened by the Minister for Health, Dr Leo Varadkar TD
- Dr Gerry McCarthy, Consultant in EM, Cork University Hospital becomes Emergency Medicine Programme National Clinical Lead
- IAEM launches its landmark position paper on The Development of an Integrated Trauma System for Ireland prompting a national debate and moves to improve national trauma care provision
2015
- New records are set for Emergency Department crowding prompting a national Emergency Department Taskforce which reports in April
- The CPD meeting of CEM takes place in Belfast. CEM which has many members and fellows in Ireland receives its royal appellation and becomes the Royal College of Emergency Medicine
