IAEM Annual Scientific Meeting 2011

IAEM 2011 ASM returned to the mid West

strand_hotel_limerickIAEM held its Annual Scientific Meeting in Limerick from Thursday 20th October 2011 until Saturday 22nd October 2011. IAEM had previously held a number of its annual meetings in nearby Adare but this meeting was the Association’s first time in the capital of the mid West.

We had anticipated that the Minister for Health, Dr James Reilly TD would speak on Friday 21st October 2011 but his officials formally declined our invitation on his behalf on 19th October, following earlier positive feedback. This was a matter of significant regret to the Association.

The meeting featured for the first time the Leo Vella Lecture. This inaugural eponymous lecture, named after the first holder of a Consultant post in the specialty in Ireland, was given by Mr Vella himself.
