The 2019 Irish Association for Emergency Medicine Annual Scientific Meeting will take place at the Clayton Hotel Sligo on 7th and 8th November 2019 with a number of preconference workshops taking place on 6th November 2019. The Association previously held its ASM at the same venue in 2006 and the 2019 event promises to be both interesting and informative from an academic perspective, as well as an enjoyable social event. 2019 is the 30th anniversary of the foundation of the Association and the Association Strategy for the next decade will be launched at the meeting.
The local organising committee has put together an academic programme covering all aspects of Emergency Department care and is reflective of the entire circle of life, all of which is seen in Emergency Departments around the country, from pregnancy and newborn presentations to end-of-life care. The programme will also feature a pre-hospital care track and specific nursing tracks.
Further details of the conference and associated pre-conference workshops are available on the dedicated IAEM webpage .There has been significant interest in the conference to date with large numbers already registered. The next 2 weeks are likely to see further registrations and would-be delegates are asked to register sooner rather than later so that the venue can cater for the numbers.
Apart from the various academic tracks, the meeting will culminate in the Leo Vella Lecture, which this year will be presented by Dr Una Geary. The evening will close with a Gala dinner which promises to mark the 30 years of the Association in a suitably appropriate way.
